71-year-old action legend Jackie Chan took part in a special conference at the Locarno Film Festival, Switzerland, where he spoke critically about modern cinema. The actor believes that film studios now only care about profit.
I think old films are better than modern ones, – Jackie said, according to Deadline. – Now a lot of big studios are not about directing, they are about business. They invest 40 million dollars and think: “How can we recoup it?”. And you can’t pass by. It’s very difficult to make a good film now.
At the festival, Jackie was presented with a lifetime achievement award, and at the same conference he admitted that he was tired of risking himself by performing the most dangerous stunts, and now he has become interested in… singing.
I can’t do this forever. It’s dangerous. That’s why I decided to learn to sing.

Chan revealed who his idol was in Hollywood when he was just starting his film career.
I wanted to be the Asian Robert De Niro.
Jackie also added that at some point he even wanted to leave American cinematography – primarily because of bad scripts and difficulties in communicating with the English-speaking audience.
“Rush Hour” was my last attempt. “If it doesn’t work out, then I’m done,” that’s what I thought then.
