On December 16, Selena Gomez took to social media to respond to a fan’s caustic comment about her having a mustache.
Someone made me laugh by asking, “How do you shave your mustache?” Gomez commented.
However, the artist quickly corrected the tactless follower, noting that she doesn’t have stubble—it’s melasma.
I take care of it and treat it, but yes, it’s there. I totally understand that you’re surprised, but it’s because of the sun,” the 33-year-old singer explained, urging her followers to use sunscreen.

According to medical experts, melasma is a skin condition that can cause brown or blue-gray patches to appear, especially on the face, including the upper lip. Sun exposure and hormonal changes can be the cause.

Over the years, Gomez has been open with fans about her appearance.
I notice that when I’m nervous, I get more breakouts. And I just accept it, – said the actress in the Beauty Secrets section of Vogue magazine.
