One day, George, the eldest son of Kate Middleton and Prince William, will become king. The boy has been prepared for this event since early childhood. But while previously the events George attended with his family were mostly for fun reasons—baking a festive cake with his grandfather the king or remembering the words to a song at a Christmas party—now the grown-up prince can be seen at much more serious events. In May, the young member of the royal family made a surprise appearance at a tea party held at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Victory in Europe Day. And the day before, on November 8, he joined his mother, the Princess of Wales, and other senior members of the royal family at the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The concert, traditionally organized by the Royal British Legion in the run-up to Remembrance Day, this year is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

In accordance with the evening’s dress code, which called for wearing only black clothes, George was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and a pinstriped tie. A brooch in the form of a small poppy, a symbol of the anniversary, was pinned to the lapel of his jacket. Kate chose a classic dress with a peplum and a white lace collar by Alessandra Rich. The Princess of Wales completed her look with an elegant diamond cross necklace and pearl drop earrings, formerly owned by Queen Elizabeth II, as well as two brooches – a hand-made scarlet poppy and a silver one designed by James Porter & Son, with the emblem of HMS Glasgow.
