On Thursday 4 September, Queen Camilla made a royal visit to the Dulwich Art Gallery in London to open the new Artplay pavilion and sculpture garden. She was joined by a group of second-form pupils from the nearby Dulwich Church of England Primary School, who helped her try out the new attractions. Camilla also tested how many people could fit in a classic British telephone box with the pupils.

The 78-year-old Queen cut the red ribbon to unveil the new exhibits and enjoyed herself with visitors. The original red telephone box remains on the gallery grounds. It is closely linked to its location, as the creator of the classic British telephone box, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, was inspired by the Dulwich Picture Gallery when creating their unique shape.
Let’s see how many people we can fit in there, suggested the Queen.
A group of children and event-goers, led by Camilla, also tried out the new bridge in the gardens and several indoor rides.
