Zac Efron starred in the 2006 musical film High School Musical. He sang several songs as Troy Bolton, but it has now been revealed that actor and singer Drew Seeley performed his vocals. A video shared on social media on Tuesday, November 11, shows a demo recording of Efron performing the song “Get’cha Head in the Game.”
“Twenty years after its release, we can finally hear his voice,” a fan post on social media reads. “Considering the date of June 2005, it can be assumed that the song contains several improvisations, and the instrumental part was still in the process of being created.”
The two-minute video shows a scene in which Efron plays basketball with his teammates and sings. Many fans were surprised by Efron’s vocals.
Okay, it’s not the worst performance, but it shows how much he’s truly improved his talent in later films. Although he probably owes his career to Drew Seeley, because I wouldn’t have sung along to that version as a kid, a fan commented.
That sounds terrible, one fan wrote bluntly.

Although Seeley auditioned for the role of Troy, he stated in a 2024 interview that he wasn’t jealous of Efron. The Canadian actor noted that Efron was better suited for the role, given that at that time Seeley had a significant age difference with Vanessa Hudgens, who played his beloved Gabriella Montez.
