45-year-old Michelle Williams played one of the lovers of the main character, played by James Van Der Beek, in the cult “Dawson’s Creek.” The series lasted six seasons, so it’s logical that the actors became close friends during this time and maintained a warm relationship after the project ended.
Michelle first spoke to journalists about her colleague on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where, by the way, she was awarded a statuette for “outstanding performance by an actress in a limited series,” and specifically for her performance in the recent project “Dying for Sex.”

I think about him. And I think about his family all the time. “As a close friend of James and his family, it was amazing to see such a broad response to his death,” Williams told Entertainment Tonight. “I really want to thank every single person who donated to his foundation.”
James Van Der Beek passed away at the age of 48 in early February. The cause of death was severe colorectal cancer, which the actor did not hide from his fans, announcing the diagnosis in November 2024.
