Variety reports that the first-ever English-language adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s great novel, “The Master and Margarita,” is in development. Russian fan favorite Johnny Depp is expected to star in the film. He will also serve as a producer.
Depp’s production company, IN.2 Film, will handle production, along with filmmakers Stephen Deuters and Stephen Malit. The project received funding at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where the film’s team made a surprise appearance last Wednesday. Let us recall that the same organization helped Depp release the historical drama “Jeanne du Barry” in 2023.
The creative team is expected to begin filming “The Master and Margarita” at the end of 2026.
