King Felipe VI of Spain and his wife, Queen Letizia, traveled to Rome, Italy, for an official visit to the Vatican for a special occasion. The monarchs arranged a meeting with the new pope, Leo XIV, the first American to hold the post. He officially became pope following the conclave held in the Vatican in early May of last year.
53-year-old Queen Letizia, considered one of the most stylish figures in the European monarchy, chose an appropriate outfit for her visit to the Vatican, wearing a ceremonial white robe. She tried on a closed tweed midi dress with ¾ sleeves and a fitted silhouette.

The queen’s image was complemented by beige pumps with a buckle and a square toe. The monarch eschewed massive jewelry (though Letizia consistently opts for minimalist looks) and styled her hair with a discreet hairstyle, pinning it back at the temples. King Felipe looked traditional, wearing a black pantsuit with a white shirt and a sky-blue tie.
The monarchs are already in Rome, on a special visit to the Vatican, reads the official caption to the latest photo on the Spanish palace’s account. – For this occasion, Dona Letizia once again wore white, a color that exudes elegance and sophistication. The dress is a classic, timeless design and perfect for a meeting with Pope Leo XIV. Keep in mind that this time Letizia’s look did without the traditional mantilla.
A mantilla is a traditional Spanish women’s headdress, a lace or silk scarf that covers the head and shoulders.
