Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford is considered a living Hollywood legend, his career is still at its peak, but few people know that the actor suffered from deep depression in college. He recently spoke about his mental health issues from his youth on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.
“I was more than depressed,” Ford recalled. “I think I was sick. I was socially ill, mentally ill.”
In the interview, Harrison painted a rare picture of his youth, calling himself an “isolated” and “withdrawn” student. The artist had a separate room and his own schedule of classes, so he rarely interacted with his peers.

I could barely get out of my single bed, go to the phone, order pizza, come back and lie there until this pizza was brought to the door. I ate the pizza, threw the packaging in the corner and went back to bed.
Attending classes, according to the actor, was “an insurmountable challenge” for him.

“On those rare occasions when I did make it to the classroom, I would often touch the door handle, turn around and walk back,” Ford admitted.
By coincidence, acting classes became an outlet for Harrison, which he went to without any expectations in order to raise his grade point average. And this choice changed everything.
“I simply found my place among the storytellers,” the actor explained. – It really changed my world, changed my life.
