Prince Harry gave an emotional speech at the business leaders summit. He admitted that he never wanted to be a member of the royal family and that the job “killed his mother.”
Speaking at the InterEdge summit in Melbourne on Thursday, he gave an interview to politician Brendan Nelson.
After my mother died shortly before my 13th birthday, I thought, “I don’t want this job. I don’t want this position – wherever this leads, I don’t like it,” he said. “It killed my mother, and I was completely against it, so I buried my head in the sand for years.”

Prince Harry noted that it was important to him to preserve his legacy my mother and her charity work.
Eventually, I realized: if it were someone else in my place, how would they use this platform, these opportunities, and these resources to make a difference in the world? And I also thought: what would my mother want? And that really changed the way I look at things, ”he concluded.
