In the summer of 2024, Alec Baldwin was cleared of all charges in the manslaughter case against cinematographer Galina Hutchins on the set of “Rust.” But the proceedings didn’t end there. Now the 68-year-old actor will face civil trial and re-accounts for the accident that occurred five years ago. According to documents obtained by the Daily Mail, a Los Angeles superior court has accepted the lawsuit filed by Serge Svetny, a lighting designer who worked on the film, and scheduled a new hearing for October of this year.

In his claim, Svetny accuses Alex Baldwin and the film’s producers of causing him emotional distress due to their alleged negligence. Although Baldwin initially claimed he had no idea the revolver he was given on set was loaded with live ammunition, he also denied pulling the trigger before cinematographer Galina Hutchins was shot and killed on October 21, 2021. Rust director Joel Souza was also wounded by the gunshot but survived. The lighting technician was not physically injured at all. But now he demands compensation for moral damages from the defendants after what happened.
