According to the Daily Mail, The Devil Wears Prada 2 received a lukewarm reception from critics, with early reviews suggesting the long-awaited sequel won’t live up to fans’ expectations. While fans were eagerly awaiting a nostalgic reunion with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, critics were less than thrilled with the follow-up to the 2006 hit.
Initial reviews of the sequel have noted a weak plot and a significant oversimplification of the 2006 original story. However, Streep has already earned praise—IndieWire critic Kate Erbland described her return as Miranda Priestly as “incredibly funny.”
Erbland added that the core plot is rather “weak” and that the new film lacks its former spark. Seattle Times journalist Moira Macdonald said the film resembles fan fiction, where everyone “just goes through the motions without bringing anything new to the table.”

Film critic Guy Lodge of Variety added that the film was saved only by the talented performances of the stars.
By almost every measure, this is an inferior film: in terms of plot, emotion, and cinematography, it is more bland, but for all that, the acting remains convincing, he said.
The Hollywood Reporter critic David Rooney said that the sequel should be perceived as “a light, funny nostalgia.”
