This week, Meghan Markle came under fire for positioning her brand as royal. Prince Harry’s wife has launched a line of candles “inspired by her children” – and Page Six has learned that she and Prince Harry have already officially registered the names of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in the adverts, raising questions about how the couple plans to use their children’s titles in the public sphere.

According to promotional materials from the As Ever brand, the adverts for the Mother’s Day collection, which went on sale on Wednesday, April 22, feature the titles for Prince Harry’s son and daughter.
The candles are dedicated to the birthdate of Prince Archie of Sussex and the birthdate of Princess Lilibet of Sussex, the advertising.

One palace source called the advertisement “an outrageous use of their titles” and noted that the late Queen Elizabeth II never intended for the Sussexes to make money from Her Royal Highnesses’ titles. According to Page Six, this is why the Duke and Duchess agreed never to use the titles publicly after stepping back as full-time royals in 2020.
Six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet were officially created Their Royal Highnesses when their grandfather King Charles ascended the throne following his mother’s death in September 2022, and they are listed on the royal website with their official titles.
