Turkish actress Hande Erçel, known for her role in the series “Knock on My Door,” has become a defendant in a criminal case for illegal drug trafficking. She is also facing charges against her ex-boyfriend, businessman Hakan Sabancı, heir to the influential Sabancı dynasty.
An arrest warrant for the actress and businessman was issued on March 24. However, they were not immediately apprehended: both were abroad at the time the warrant was issued.
Erçel learned of the case from the media and expressed her willingness to cooperate with the investigation. In a social media post, she stated that she had been abroad for about a month due to her studies. The actress confirmed that she was returning to Turkey to testify and clarify the situation. She expressed confidence in the Turkish justice system and hoped for a quick resolution to the incident.

Hakan Sabancı is also outside the country, so the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for him as well. The story has received widespread attention: security forces previously detained 14 of the 16 suspects in the drug possession and pimping case. Among those detained are businessmen, models, movie stars, and former directors of leading Turkish football clubs.
Hande Erçel is one of the most sought-after actresses in Turkish TV series. In January of last year, she visited Moscow with Barış Arduç for the presentation of the film “Leave It to the Wind”, and in November she celebrated her birthday in Russia.
