A biography of Charles III’s mother, “Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Inside,” is being prepared. According to royal expert Robert Hardman, Queen Elizabeth II had a final wish before her death – to see all of her great-grandchildren, including her grandson Prince Harry’s two children with Meghan Markle.

The Queen wanted all of her great-grandchildren to come to Balmoral at some point this summer, even if it might have been difficult for the Sussexes to get there, royal biographer Hardman writes in his new book. — She wanted to make sure they all had truly happy memories of her.
The biography mentions Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have children Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4. Queen Elizabeth expressed this desire because at the time the Sussexes did not have very good relations with the rest of the royal family.

In 2020, a scandal erupted in the royal family after Prince Harry and his wife decided to give up their royal duties and moved to the United States. The rift between Harry, his brother William, and his father, Charles II, deepened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave an interview to Oprah Winfrey in 2021. They made sensational claims that the royal family was allegedly concerned about Prince Archie’s skin color during Meghan’s pregnancy. Despite the scandal, Harry’s family traveled to London in June 2022 so the Queen could meet the young Princess Lilibet. Harry, Markle, and their two children reportedly spent some time with the Queen at Windsor Castle just hours before Lilibet’s first birthday. At the time, Page Six reported that the royal family celebrated the birthday girl’s birthday the following day.
