On Saturday, May 2, Colombian superstar Shakira gave a free concert in Rio de Janeiro. According to the city’s mayor, the event attracted 2 million people to one of the world’s most iconic promenades. The performance was a continuation of similar concerts by Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga last year, which also gathered hundreds of thousands of spectators on the sandy beach.

For Shakira, the show was part of her world tour “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (“Women No Longer Cry”), named after her 2024 album. The singer’s performance began at around 11:00 pm to thunderous applause from the crowd.
I came here when I was 18, dreaming of singing for you, – Shakira said from the stage. – And look at me now. Life is magical.

The star performed such popular songs as “Hips Don’t Lie”, “La Tortura” and “La Bicicleta”. The city’s mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, announced on his social media account that more than 2 million people attended the performance.
The She-Wolf made history in Rio, he wrote, referring to Shakira’s 2009 hit.
