On Tuesday, June 16, Javier Bardem was honored to have his hand and footprints left in the plaza in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre as part of a ceremony celebrating his decades-long career in Hollywood. Javier gave a speech, saying he never dreamed he would reach such heights in the film industry.
“It’s a great honor to receive such an award, to have my name immortalized,” he said in his acceptance speech. “When I think about the people who stood in this very spot, it’s hard to believe it’s true. It’s safe to say I never imagined I’d be standing in the historic TCL Chinese Theatre putting my hands and feet in cement,” the Oscar winner added. “It is a great honor for me to be part of this wonderful Hollywood tradition, to be among so many outstanding artists who have left an indelible mark on our cinema.”
Dune director Denis Villeneuve also congratulated the actor on this important milestone in his career.
Now Javier can confidently change his role, choose roles, guided by new logic, new feelings and a new outlook on reality,” noted he.
Although the Spanish star was honored by his colleagues, the actor’s wife Penelope Cruz was unable to support him on this day. The couple has been married since 2010, after falling in love on the set of the film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” in 2007. Cruz is currently busy promoting her new film, The Invitation, in which she stars alongside Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen.
