A teaser trailer has been released for the historical adventure drama “Arsenyev”—a large-scale project from the Rossiya TV channel and the Okko online cinema. The story centers on the life of the outstanding explorer, writer, and traveler Vladimir Klavdievich Arsenyev, played by People’s Artist of Russia Yevgeny Mironov. Remarkably, the actor will celebrate his 60th birthday in 2026—and this role is becoming one of the most significant in his career.
Mironov not only played the lead role—he also served as the project’s artistic director and co-wrote the script. According to the creators, it was the actor’s involvement that allowed them to fully reveal the hero’s inner world: not only as a scientist and discoverer, but also as a person who, in a turning point in time, had to repeatedly make difficult choices between duty, truth, and the well-being of his loved ones.
The series’ plot covers 26 years of Arsenyev’s life, from late Tsarist Russia to the early Soviet period. Against the backdrop of two revolutions, the First World War, the Civil War, and a change in the political system, the hero continues to organize dangerous expeditions, make geographical discoveries, and conduct ethnographic research. The project’s key message is to demonstrate that the Far East was and remains not a fringe of the country, but its reliable support.
The action begins in 1905: Captain Arsenyev, leading a hunting team, combines military service, secret missions for the General Staff, and research work. Intrigues at work, tense relationships in the family, expeditions, scientific activity and literary creativity – all this gradually turns him into a prominent figure not only on a regional, but also on an all-Russian scale.

Filming lasted more than a year: they started on October 26, 2023, at Cape Tobizina (the southernmost point of Russky Island in Vladivostok) and ended on December 27, 2024, at the Moskino cinema park. A large-scale set was built specifically for the series, recreating the historical appearance of Vladivostok at the beginning of the 20th century: the sea fishing port, the Millionka quarter, the fire tower, the governor’s house, barracks, and warehouses. The project involves more than 100 actors, for whom over 200 unique historical costumes were created.
Viewers are promised not a classic biography, but an intense drama about a man against the backdrop of historical upheavals – a story of fidelity to one’s path and how the fate of one explorer becomes intertwined with the fate of an entire country.
The project also stars Alexandra Ursulyak, Yulia Khlynina, Viktor Verzhbitsky, Alexander Novin, Ondasyn Besikbasov, Alisa Freindlich, Avangard Leontyev and others. The director is Dmitry Kiselev, the director of photography is Vladimir Bashta, and the screenplay is written by Ilya Tilkin with the participation of Yevgeny Mironov and Dmitry Kiselev. The producers of the series are Alexander Novin and Vadim Sokolovsky.
The premiere of the series “Arsenyev” will take place in the fall on the Okko platform and on the Rossiya TV channel.
