Prince Harry will soon return to the UK to attend the wedding of his cousin Peter Phillips. The grandson of Queen Elizabeth II announced his engagement to National Health Service paediatrician Harriet Sperling last week. Peter, 47, is Princess Anne’s eldest son and proposed to Harriet after a year of dating. The couple confirmed the happy news in an exclusive statement to HELLO!.
Her Royal Highness Princess Mary and Captain Mark Phillips’ son, Peter Phillips, and Harriet Spurling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement, according to a statement released by Gerard Franklin on behalf of the couple.
The document went on to say that Their Majesties The King and Queen and The Prince and Princess of Wales had been notified of the engagement but no date had yet been set.

Harriet works as a paediatrician in the National Health Service, and a freelance writer on medical topics. They first met in early 2024, and are said to have met at a sporting event. Harriet and Peter made their public debut at a badminton and horse racing event in May 2024. In April 2024, it was officially announced by the media that Phillips had split from his previous girlfriend, Lindsay Wallace, with whom he had been together for three years.
