How would you formulate the philosophy of the brand VOLI in one sentence?

Laysan: VOLI is clothes with character and meaning, in which you can be yourself: free, ironic, gentle, strong – just the way you are. Dress like a person – and go live. Without showing off, without bias, but with a mood. This is not clothing, it is a state: I am, and I feel good about it.

What does “Russian fashion” mean to you today, and how do you convey this through your collections?

Laysan: Russian fashion is when the fabric has a soul, the silhouette has freedom, and the T-shirt has its own voice. This is our way of talking about important things: through a quote from Mayakovsky on the back, through the silhouette of a fairy-tale wolf on the chest or the image of a beloved pet that has long become part of the family.

This is respect for the roots and love for details. Our collections are about people who carry an entire country within themselves.

Pavel: This is when it is comfortable, beautiful and a little ironic. When there is Pushkin on the T-shirt, freedom in the soul and common sense in the head. This is when you go about your business in a suit that you can wear to the park and to a meeting. Our fashion is not forced, but alive . VOL I am no longer merch and not just tracksuits. We make sets — shirts and trousers, release strict silhouettes and develop full-fledged suits, confidently moving towards real fashion and without losing ourselves.

What idea or emotion was at the heart of the latest capsule ?

Laysan: We remembered that each of us has an inner hero — like from a Russian fairy tale. Or a pet that silently heals the heart. Or a line from a book that has stayed with us forever. The capsule is a declaration of love for those who shape our world from the inside: fairy-tale archetypes, writers, animal friends.

Pavel: Nostalgia, kindness and style. This is about our new drop “Fairy Tales”. We took what makes us all ourselves — Russian fairy tales — and turned it into clothes you want to wear. Honestly. Warm. And with a sparkle.

How do you approach the selection of prints and slogans? Who participates in this process?

Pavel: We don’t look for texts — they come to us. We just sit down, look at this world and think: “What would Tolstoy say if he had social networks?. Then comes the filter through irony, meaning and taste – and a phrase is born that sounds accurate, and a silhouette that fits perfectly.

Who is your hero – a person who wears VOLЯ?

Laysan: The one who has not forgotten how to dream. Who appreciates irony and depth. Who can be themselves in the gym and think about Stepnova while walking the dog. These are our people.

Pavel: The one who does not show off, but knows who he is. Can read Pelevin while petting his cat. He loves high-quality materials, comfort and interesting features. He appreciates elements of jokes “to think about” and bright visual images of Russian heritage. He has a sense of humor, taste and his own will – in a good way.

What materials and technologies do you prefer to use – and is there an emphasis on sustainability?

Laysan: We are for reliable things, those that will not fall apart in a month, so we look for the coolest materials. Natural fabrics, thoughtful fit, local production. And all this – with respect for the planet.

Do you yourself wear VOLI every day? What items have become the basis of your wardrobe?

Pavel: I wear them. Every day. Tracksuits, T-shirts, shirts, trousers. I especially love our sets – you look collected in them, but not shackled.

Laysan: I love the line with dogs! And I also love it when there is a phrase on the back – and a passerby turns around, reads it and smiles.

Fashion today is increasingly becoming a manifesto. What manifesto does VOLI carry?

Laysan: Don’t shout – be yourself. VOLI is about those who are calm on the outside, and the universe on the inside. About people who go their own way. They don’t fight for attention – they just get it. Their clothes don’t say “look at me”, they say “I know who I am”. And that’s powerful.
