According to American tabloids, including Just Jared, the theme of this year’s Met Gala will be “The Art of Costume.” The exhibition of the same name, which will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027, references the history of the Costume Institute itself and explores the specifics of professional tailoring and the creation of haute couture outfits.

This is an important moment for the Costume Institute, explains the exhibition’s curator, Andrew Bolton. – This will be a transformative event that will change fashion as a whole, given the fact that the Metropolitan Museum occupies a de facto central place in the fashion world.
CNN reports that “the exhibition will feature nearly 200 works of art and about 200 items of clothing and accessories.” The exhibition will be divided into the themes of “The Naked Body,” “The Classical Body,” “The Pregnant Body,” and “The Mortal Body.”
The ball dedicated to the exhibition will once again be chaired by former American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The list of celebrity guests is still being kept secret, but it is already known that Demi Lovato, Lili Reinhart, Amy Schumer and Gwyneth Paltrow, who were put on Anna’s stop list, will definitely not attend the event.
