The family of former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is in disgrace with the royal family due to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. This situation, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, has only played into the hands of Kate Middleton, who was already uneasy with her husband’s cousins, especially Princess Eugenie, with whom she attended Marlborough College, an elite private school in Wiltshire. The reason, according to the expert, was not any personal grudge, but rather their vastly different temperaments.

While Kate excelled in sports and transformed from a shy 14-year-old into a confident adult during her time at boarding school, Eugenie found herself at the center of a scandal. The young princess received a severe reprimand after being caught “lying naked on the ground” at the end of term following a wild night. And this wasn’t the only time Eugenie’s antics caused a stir at Buckingham Palace. One insider compared the princess to “something between Harry and Princess Margaret.”

Even her father admits she can be a bit unruly. A hell of a thing—that’s how you’d describe her.

Eugenie also had a reputation for dating “bad boys” at one point. And this directly impacted her studies. Eugenie planned to take a gap year after graduating from Marlborough College because she was allegedly “in love” with Hugo Taylor. Rumours of an affair between the 18-year-old princess and the Chelsea player, who was 22 at the time, made headlines after they were spotted “passionately kissing” at Vendome nightclub in Mayfair.

Insider’s claimed that Hugo’s summer romance had “rather surprised” his friends, given that the reality star had previously dated “stunning, leggy blondes”.

To be honest, Eugenie is not his type at all, and he tries to keep their relationship low-key. Hugo is dark and a little cheeky, and she likes that. But she should be careful not to fall head over heels for Hugo – he’s a nice guy, but he’s a party animal and definitely up for a good time.

At the time, Hugo was a regular at London’s most exclusive nightclubs. In the summer of 2008, the couple hung out at nightclubs Boujis, Whisky Mist, and Mahiki—much to the chagrin of Eugenie’s parents. Her mother, Sarah Ferguson, had hoped that her daughter would take time off to do charity work. Instead, the young princess enjoyed her newfound freedom.

In January 2009, the behavior of Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter again sparked public outcry after it was reported that Eugenie had been to a nightclub where “girls for 20 pounds dance striptease.” According to the Daily Mail, the princess arrived at the Sophisticats Gentleman’s Club in the West End at dawn, accompanied by her friends and a member of royal security, and spent an hour there. During this time, she splashed out on a £165 bottle of Bollinger Grande Annee Vintage 1999 champagne and sampled several cocktails. According to eyewitnesses, she “giggled” while strippers danced on her, and then, as if plucking up courage, attempted to “join the girls writhing on stage.”

Due to health and safety regulations, she was told she couldn’t perform until she secured a job at the club and received pole training like their dancers. It was all done with irony, and Eugenie took it in good humor.

However, the princess’s behavior shocked everyone having fun at the club.

The last thing anyone expected was for the princess to show up unannounced, let alone sit and enjoy a private dance for one of her companions, a source at the notorious Soho strip club said.

A year after the wild night in London, a new man appeared in the life of the 19-year-old princess: Richard Branson’s nephew, Otto Brockway, a polo player. At the time, Eugenie was studying English and Art History at the University of Nottingham, where she was initially rejected for not meeting the entrance requirements. She got two As and a B in her final exams, failing to achieve AAA, but the university “appeared to have changed its mind” about denying her a place when it “found out who she was,” The Sunday Times reported.

Former senior lecturer at the university, Martin Farr, spoke about the confusion at an anti-monarchy event in July 2017.

A friend of mine, who is Italian, was in charge of admissions for an English Literature BA. He received one application that was not good enough and rejected it, unaware that it was a royal applicant.

When the “horrified” university learned who Eugenie of York of Sandringham was, she was offered a place on another course. Soon after enrolling at the University of Nottingham, she met Otto, described as a “real party animal,” like the princess herself. Today, Otto’s 75-year-old uncle, Richard Bronson, is one of the prominent figures whose names appear in the “Epstein Files”—a collection of three million documents related to the pedophile financier that the US Department of Justice has been gradually releasing since last year. In one email, Branson advised Epstein to “bring his harem” to their next meeting, and offered PR advice to the financier himself, who committed suicide while awaiting sex trafficking charges, after being convicted of child molestation.

Evgenia, however, only settled down when she met her future husband, Jack Brooksbank, whom she met during a skiing holiday in Verbier, Switzerland. The couple married in 2018 and are now raising two young children, 5-year-old August and 2-year-old Ernest. Their wild lifestyle is a thing of the past. But Kate, who has always done the right thing, seems to be unwilling to forget her sister-in-law’s scandalous stories, according to the royal biographer.
