Today, May 2, the eldest granddaughter of British King Charles III turned 11 years old. To mark the occasion, the birthday girl’s parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, unveiled a new portrait of her. In the photo, published on the official social media account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Charlotte poses among the lush blooms of Cornwall’s gardens. She is wearing blue jeans, a black sweater with red stripes, and a light blue shirt peeking out from underneath, matching the birthday girl’s nails. An understated look that doesn’t distract from the main thing—the girl inherited her mother’s beautiful thick hair and open smile—but she definitely takes after her father in her face.
The author of Princess Charlotte’s photo is Matt Porteous, one of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s favorite photographers. He photographed the Welsh families during their recent Easter holidays in Cornwall. And Charlotte’s photo is already the third from this photo shoot, published in the last 10 days. On April 23, Kate and William shared a photo of Prince Louis, who turned 8 that day. On April 29, they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary with a family photo.
As a reminder, Princess Charlotte is third in line to the British throne (after her father, Prince William, and her brother, George). She currently attends Lambrook School, a private school near Ascot in Berkshire, with her brothers. She enjoys dancing and swimming. She also plays the piano quite well. Last winter, Charlotte demonstrated this talent in a duet with her mother at the traditional Christmas service “Together at Christmas,” led by the Princess of Wales.
