Another year, another Trooping the Colour ceremony, and another look for Kate Middleton. Today, the royal family gathered at Horse Guards Parade in central London to celebrate the official birthday of King Charles III.

Every year at Trooping the Colour, the Princess of Wales wears an outfit that combines the most beautiful summer colours with some sentimental details. 2026 was no exception. This time, Kate chose a fitted coatdress with broad shoulders by Catherine Walker Lafayette. Kate accessorized her sea-green outfit with white ribbed lapels, reminiscent of the one worn by Princess Diana in 1987, with a wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat with a matching bow, and accessorized with an Irish Guards brooch—a nod to her rank as a colonel—and Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore pearl earrings. She wore this pair earlier this year to the enthronement ceremony of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, and first showed it to the public in 2018 during the christening of her youngest son, Prince Louis.

As per tradition, Kate was joined on a sunny carriage ride at Ascot Landau by her children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte. The heirs to the throne wore dark suits with pale blue ties, matching their mother’s outfit, and Charlotte wore a white dress with puffed sleeves and a bow in her hair. As for the head of the family, Prince William, he took part in the military parade in full uniform.
