Christie’s is organizing an auction dedicated to the film “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” with items valued at over $1 million. A total of 20 lots are promised for sale, ranging from clothing and shoes to bags and jewelry. Online bidding will take place on the auction house’s website from September 1st to 15th. Proceeds will benefit the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
The auction idea was proposed and supported by Meryl Streep herself. She previously chaired a similar charity sale of costumes after the release of the first film. The catalog includes items worn in the film by Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley and Lady Gaga.
Main lots
Among the main lots in the online auction is the Niki dress by Gabriela Hearst. It is worn by Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, during her trip to the Hamptons. Another notable lot is a tasseled jacket by Dries Van Noten. Meryl Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, appears in it. Of course, there was also the famous “sky-blue” sweater from J. Crew with a modest estimate of 100-200 dollars.
