Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor is undergoing rehabilitation after a serious injury and knee surgery. The athlete is currently in Los Angeles. Footage from the balcony of the hotel where Conor is currently staying has quickly spread across the internet.

The key event that marked the beginning of a series of medical interventions was McGregor’s comeback fight at UFC 329 on July 11, 2026. His opponent was Max Holloway. Already at the 66th second of the first round, Conor attempted a flying spinning kick, but landed awkwardly. As a result, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a damaged meniscus. The referee stopped the fight, and McGregor was awarded a technical knockout loss.

In early August 2026, the 38-year-old athlete underwent surgery. This operation was the fifth major one in his career. Doctors successfully restored the injured knee, and now the fighter is in the initial stage of rehabilitation.

The public’s attention was attracted by a video filmed by a drone: in the footage, McGregor is standing on a hotel balcony. On his right leg he has a massive brace, and in his hands are crutches. A can of MAC Energy energy drink was delivered to him using a drone. The drink hung on a rope and swayed in the air. Due to limited mobility, Conor had to get creative. He tried to pull the can toward himself using a crutch as a hook. The humor of the situation and the fighter’s recognizable character made the video go viral. The clip is actively discussed in fan communities and sports media.

Despite the fact that the typical recovery from such an injury takes 9 to 12 months, Conor McGregor has demonstrated his usual determination since the surgery. The fighter has officially stated that his mentality remains “unbroken” and announced plans to return to the octagon in the summer of 2027, as part of International Fight Week.
